If animated shows have any advantage over their live action counterparts, it’s that they aren’t limited by what you can throw in front of the camera (without spending a mountain on visual effects that is). Case and point – “Rick and Morty,” Adult Swim’s latest cult hit, which recently capped its second season and seems to take the limitless possibilities of animation as a dare. It traverses multiple dimensions and exotic alien worlds, rendering the most bizarre visuals it can muster on a weekly basis. Yet for all the imagination

Helena Mattsson is the name of the beautiful blonde who meets her unfortunate end in the early going of American Horror Story: Hotel, and it’s a shame, as I think we all would like to see a

And the other day, I happened to be in the same room as someone watching the new Scream for TV, and I actually started paying attention – mostly due to a gorgeous actress who plays the character of Brooke. Carlson Young is a beautiful

You love Game of Thrones. I love Game of Thrones. We all love Game of Thrones. The show is arguably the best show ever created, in the eyes of critics and fans alike, and the popularity of the HBO fantasy drama only continues to grow, even as Season 5 has been kind of S…L…O…W. One undeniable thing about Game of Thrones, however, is that part of the reason we love it is due to how incredibly f*cked up so many of the characters are. While some of the Westerosi players

Parks & Recreation is literally the best show on the planet. Actually, in the universe. There’s no show that compares to Parks & Recreation because Parks & Recreation is made up of a stellar cast, and therefore a stellar character list, because everyone in the cast is the character they are. Amy Poehler is Leslie Knope, Rashida Jones is Ann, Aziz is Tom, Rhetta is Donna, Aubrey is April, Chris is Andy, Rob is Chris, Jim is Jerry, Nick is Ron and Adam is Ben. We could go on for

The first episode of each Bachelor and Bachelorette season never fails me. It is an event. It’s a fucking holiday. Some lonely hot man or woman is left to meet a batch of potential psychopaths and hopefully his or her life partner is hiding in the rubbish. The arrival of limos filled with women in gowns, the cheesy lines they utter to their future husband, the drunkenness that quickly follows and the accompaniment of stranger drama, jealousy, and crazy eyes… I’m so obsessed. There are a few unwritten rules for the

Like you, I love Netflix. I love the catalog of shows at my finger tips and the blatant disregard Netflix marathons represent for my well being and productivity as a human being. Just over this Thanksgiving holiday I watched at least 12 episodes of a TV show. Also like you, I enjoy reading Writtalin. That’s why this week I’m just straight rippin off the fine commentary of one Sara F Carter who has the Criminal Minds analysis game on lock. I’m sure many of us binge watched TV shows and I

But then you think about it and you really can’t think of anyone who would murder you, and are overcome with the crippling fear that if you get murdered the cops will have no leads. If you’re walking to your car

Using a unique blend of magic and prankster-esque comedy, the shows titular magician, Michael Carbonaro, dupes unsuspecting people into believing the impossible. If you’re unfamiliar with the show, you can read my first interview with Carbonaro to see what he’s all about. In the first half of Season 1, Carbonaro was able to pop bowling balls out of flat packages, assemble a live duck with spare parts, and

Television has a way of getting to us. After season upon season spent investing time, energy, and emotion into the development and nuances of the characters in a given series, we often connect to TV characters in a way that we do not to fictional people in other forms of media. Watching heartbreaking things happen to characters you have come to know intimately often feels personal and devastating. Here are my picks for the ten saddest moments in television history. Oh yeah…and SPOILER ALERT!!!!!, obviously. #10: The Fresh Prince of

Some men are better off on our TV screens… Jax Teller – Sons of Anarchy Relationship Status: Married to Tara Knowles. Cat’s out of the bag: girls like bad boys. Jax Teller is the King of bad boys. Sadly, Jax is best as just a fantasy. Despite his “good” intentions

HBO’s Silicon Valley ended it’s debut season with the episode, “Optimal Tip-To-Tip Efficiency.” The guys at Pied Piper started the season with a simple algorithm for a compression company. What any of that means, not even main character Richard Hendricks knew until the very end of the season, and even then he changed the whole face of the company in the show’s final moments. Along the way, he had the help of a hilarious group of techies all incubating under the roof of Aviato founder, Erlich Bachman. Hats off to comedian TJ

5 – Rick in The Walking Dead The, “We let go of all of it,” speech. In the midseason finale of Season 4, Rick pours his heart out and tells his audience at the fence of the prison that we can forget the past. If everyone will put down their weapons, they can all live together as one. It’s an unprecedented moment showing the character growth of Rick Grimes.
