On Facebook, friend is a verb. I’m friending you on Facebook, girlllll.  Friend me back. You can request a friend, ‘add’ a friend, even full-on delete a friend, without any social interaction at all.  Fan-freakin-tastic.  If you find someone’s posts mildly annoying, you can ‘hide’ him or her with the touch of a button.  Poof!  Friend-be-gone!  It’s not real life.  It’s Facebook. Let’s discuss the 8 most annoying types of Facebookers that warrant a defriending immediately. How to Lose a Facebook Friend:  The Top 8 Worst Offenders 1.  The ChronicRead More

13 Ridiculous Celebrity Quotes

Everyone puts a foot in their mouth at some point, but these celebrities are about knee deep in foot gobbling. Check out these 13 ridiculous celebrity quotes: 1. Rick Ross on losing 100 pounds: “I eat pears now and shit.” 2. Sylvester Stallone on art or reincarnation…We aren’t sure which: “The only happy artist is a dead artist, because only then you can’t change. After I die, I’ll probably come back as a paintbrush.” 3. Gwyneth Paltrow on nutrition: “I’d rather smoke crack than eat cheese from a tin.” 4.Read More
Couples Vacation “Ruined” Over Spelling Error A couple is suing British Airways over what they say was a “ruined” vacation. They had plans to visit Granada, Spain. However, the ticket they received did not list a country, airport code, or flight duration, and they were shocked to discover the flight they were on was headed for the Caribbean island of Grenada. The couple did not realize the mistake until they were airborne. Okay. Lots of questions already here. First off, when you are waiting to get on your flight, theRead More

Hulkamaniac!

Life is full of moments.  Some stand out further than the rest.  Others stay hidden, to be discovered later on down the trail.  Today I had one of those rare special moments.  I had just got done being extra productive organizing and cleaning, which if you know me, that’s quite a triumph!  I was feeling accomplished.  I was feeling good.  Why not reward myself by watching all those movies I recorded on my DVR, but never got around to watching?  Fuck it.  Why not?  I was super productive today, IRead More

We Haven’t Come A Long Way, Baby

I’ve been thinking a lot about feminism lately, particularly in light of the #YesAllWomen campaign. I’ve come to the conclusion that we’re in trouble. All of us. We’ve become complacent.  And that sucks. I suddenly hang out with a lot of women in their early 20s. They are smart, sharp and afraid. They tell me that they can’t walk the streets alone during the day without being harassed. When they go to college they are given classes instructing them on how not to be raped.  That they can’t walkRead More
Duck Invasion Over 100,000 ducks caused traffic to come to a halt in Bangkok earlier this week. No news of where they came from and where they’re going. But I love that they travel in such an organized pack. I’m not sure I’d be angry if something like this happened to me. Much better than your average traffic jam. Who could be angry over a bunch of quacking ducks? Just look at them go! Or maybe they’re on strike, protesting against something. Maybe their bread supply was cut! Guess we’llRead More

Dogecoin’s 200K Hack

An unknown Dogecoin miner has been hard at work since January. What is Dogecoin? Dogecoin is a cyrptocurrency or digital currency, like Bitcoin, that became popular through an Internet meme. What happened during the hack? SecureWorks, a Dell subsidiary, is reporting that an estimated 500 million Dogecoins were mined by an unknown hacker from January through April of 2014. The coins were mined using the power from storage servers run by Taiwan based Synology Inc. The 500 million Dogecoins equal out to roughly $200,000 US and, if the hack isRead More

Rape Culture & How You Can Stop It

I’ve seen a lot of articles recently regarding ‘rape culture,’ and while many of them are poignant, thought provoking pieces that really contribute to the cause of stopping said rape culture, there are several articles out there that take the term to the extreme, making women out to be victimized. In my opinion, this further propagates rape culture by taking arguments and pushing them to extremes. So I made a handy list, which in my opinion, outlines some of the topics that help call out and end rape culture, andRead More

My Car Is My Therapist

I’m most comfortable in my car. Correction, I’m most honest in car. Or maybe I’m most human. (Ah, they’re all the same…). It is my belief that the best place to feel all emotions is inside your car. Particularly your car with no one else present. Not other people’s cars. Other people’s cars are their havens, not yours. You’ve got your own car (maybe you don’t, so, well, I don’t know). Let me explain. There is no other place in this world where no one can disturb you. I promise.Read More

The @SafeAmericaAct (#SAA): Part 1 of 6

The @SafeAmericaAct #SAA Part 1 of a 6-Part Series on the need for Emergency Legislation and Societal Action to Curb Gun Violence and Mass-Shootings   We all remember the names.  They elicit a visceral reaction from the depths of our humanity. Columbine. The seemingly benign names become infamous overnight. Aurora. As the names, places, and horrific scenes play out in front of our television screens we wonder…Why us? Virginia Tech. What is it about us, the United States, the “land of the free and the home of the brave.” Sandy Hook.Read More

The Kit’s Outta The Bag!

T-minus negative two days ‘til the start of the greatest sporting event in the entire universe! An estimated 10 million viewers in the U.S. alone made the opening matches of the tournament among the largest-watched spectacles across the globe. And sadly, these numbers paled in comparison to Game 1 of the NBA Finals… Priorities, America. I am of course referring to the World Cup. Maybe you’ve heard of it. I will go ahead and assume the majority of the viewership for the NBA Finals is coming from everyone outside MiamiRead More

What Do Pageants Really Teach Us?

Miss USA has come and gone, and the internet remains full of criticism and confusion about the world of pageantry. It’s forever tainted by Honey Boo Boo and Miss Teen South Carolina ’07. Women either love it or they hate it. Men either love it or they. . .love it. Most people don’t understand what draws women to compete. And I’m just over here eating ice cream and looking back on my glory days. No matter how you feel about the pageants, I promise they’ve got a lot to offer–MoreRead More

Top 10: Reasons to Turn Down

Recently, Lil Jon and DJ Snake asked us all an important question: “Turn Down For What?” The millennials of the world responded resoundingly with: “NOTHING. WE WILL TURN DOWN FOR NOTHING.” Although I appreciate the enthusiasm, I have to interject. There are a few things I think it’s okay to turn down for. (Not to mention the fact that being “turnt up” all the time will probably kill you prematurely. ) Here they are, kids: my Top Ten Reasons to Turn Down.   1. Netflix Sometimes you need to binge-watchRead More
Psychic Turtle Predicts World Cup Game So the World Cup is upon us and I’m sure you all took bets on who would win the first game. You might have used some weird superstitious tradition to figure it out. Or maybe you wanted to be like Jimmy Fallon and use puppies. Or,  you could have just talked to me and saved yourself the trouble because I knew who was going to win way ahead of you. How did know Brazil was going to win? Because a psychic turtle told me. Chuck Palahniuk is a cult-favorite. Either you read every one of his books, or you read none (or just Fight Club – yes, he wrote that. Yes, it was a book before it was a movie). Chuck, as his readers dearly refer to him, pens life lessons through incredibly odd circumstances faced by his characters. While these circumstances don’t play out in our everyday life, Chuck strikes a note that makes us wonder “why not?” Take the scene in Fight Club – the movie – where Tyler Durden and theRead More
