I love being a fashion designer, but even more than that I love sharing my gift to help other people. I was approached by the “Love Without Reason Foundation” to be a part of “SHINE! Fashion Show & Luncheon for Women and Girls of all Ages” on Saturday, April 18th, 2015. The event was at ICCM Theatre in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Proceeds from this fashion show were used to provide cost-free surgeries by highly specialized maxillofacial and craniofacial surgeons to children in developing countries born with craniofacial (head and face) deformities.Read More
I was honored to be an invited designer of the WERK the RUNWAY high fashion runway show on Saturday, April 11th. It was held at the Best Western Plus Conference Center in Morristown, Tennessee. Among the fabulous designers featured were: The Charming Housewife (Lacey Fleming), Marc Nelson Denim, Charles Josef Bridal, Paulie Gibson – as featured on America’s Next Top Model, and my Victoria Wilmoth Couture. Each of us displayed our collections and then the show was concluded with the finale, “Once Upon A Time: Fairy Tale Meets Fashion.” This collectionRead More
Over five hundred miles later, seven and a half hours in a car, and having battled the “snowmaggedon” of the South – we arrive at Gage Talent Agency in Knoxville, Tennessee. The models were lined up clear out the door. In total, there were 140 potential models to chose from. They were all there for the designers of Knoxville Fashion Week. At 7pm, we walk in the door and are ushered to a back room to place our gowns on a garment rack. The problem? All the garment racks areRead More

Big Changes for New York Fashion Week

New York Fashion Week is officially over. And while New York’s winter is not even close to ending (heck, we haven’t even begun to see the inkling of spring) people in the fashion industry are already talking about fall 2015. And not just because they work on a clock that is six months ahead of the ordinary-department store-wearing consumer. But, because the iconic event of New York Fashion Week is going through some major personality adjustments, in almost every way possible. LOCATION. While the season of fall certainly implies change, fashionRead More
Atelier Versace Spring/Summer 2015 Collection Runway Show: Atelier Versace showcases stunning dresses with contemporary style cutouts that border on revealing. The strategically placed curvatures amplify the sensuality of the female form. However, they leave just enough to the imagination to be considered sexy. The asymmetric lines of the dresses are intricately woven to create complex patterns with a very modern feel. It is almost as if the female human body is a canvas for contemporary art. They are flattering in bold red, royal blue, stark white, black, and nude fabrics. SheRead More

Four years of higher education at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). Inspiration Boards. Multiple sketches of a gown on a croquis. Draping multiple looks. Patternmaking. Muslin creation. Re-evaluating the pattern based on the results of the muslin. Cut the expensive fabric based on the new pattern. Hand sew the outer shell. Line the dress. Hem. Hand sew the finishing touches. This whole process for only one gown. This photoshoot had six. As a fashion designer, creating gowns is a labor of love. Organizing a photoshoot is a laborRead More

3 Apps that Are Changing the Way We Shop

Online shopping to women is like Christmas to a little kid, like bacon and beer to the male sex, like vodka to an alcoholic. It gets us giddy with excitement, and free shipping just puts us over the edge. You don’t need to buy it, you don’t want to do it, but you just have to hit check out. And it feels oh so good. The beauty of online shopping is that it has morphed and advanced over the years. You went from shopping at your desktops to laptops toRead More
In high school, my business teacher and now close companion taught me to never dress down. She is one of the most fashionable and beautiful people I have ever met. She would say, “You never know who you’re going to meet,” and I took those words to heart. People always ask me why I dress up every day for class or even on lazy Sundays. The truth is, I love wearing old sweatshirts and baggy pants just as much as the next person; I just know you can get moreRead More
That was the title of the article. I saw it on Facebook and instantly clicked it because…I was sitting in my room, watching re-runs of Seinfeld, eating a bowl of the kind of cereal that makes you poop, wearing my tangerine high-waisted shorts, and suddenly…regretting all of my decisions. And as it turns out, guys HATE high-waisted shorts. They think they are awkward and unflattering and should be burned at the stake. (Along with your rompers, which according to the article, look like pillowcases and your maxi-dresses, which apparently makeRead More
Throughout history, Labor Day has been one of the major holidays that has impacted fashion. In some form or another, I’m sure you have heard the saying “Don’t wear white after Labor Day!” Why is this? Why all of a sudden is a color forbidden? Well, it all started in the 1800’s, early 1900’s.  Wearing white was a symbol of wealth. Since laborers couldn’t afford to take time off of work for vacation they would always wear their blue collar uniforms/outfits. The wealthier would always show of their wealth by wearing whiteRead More
The Face-kini Trend Goes Global Oh China. They are taking sun protection to the next level. Why bother putting sunblock on your face when you can just cover it entirely? The newly invented “face-kini” is here and taking the world by storm. What originally started as an “old woman style” is now a huge fashion trend on Vogue. Yeah, I don’t get it either. You can see more here.  Kinda kinky no? So basically there’s a bunch of robbers or spidermen running around on the beaches of China. The countryRead More
