A Few Weeks in the Gym

I don’t like the gym. Call me crazy, but I would rather spend all day wandering a trail in the backcountry than run on a rotating belt while staring at a wall. Unfortunately, shit happens (read: stress fractures) and I grind it out on the elliptical and lift heavy things. The last 6-8 weeks have been eye opening into the world of stair-masters and bro tanks. Here are a few observations and recommendations when hitting the gym…   TO THE LADIES: I don’t trust girls with skinny arms. Blame itRead More

#MCM: Trevor Donovan

-Trevor Donovan- Twitter: @TrevDon Instagram: trevordonovan Known for: Playing Teddy in 90210. My crush for this Monday is the handsome, and absolutely delectable Trevor Donovan. I came across this delicious morsel on a website with him in nothing but boxing gloves, and red silk shorts. Not only is he easy on the eyes, but apparently he stripped down for animals. Yes please. Mr. Donovan was raising money  for the charity ‘Helping Homeless Animals,’ a privately run, non-profit, “no kill” animal shelter. So not only is he amazingly delicious and hasRead More

Five Ways to Freak Him Out

It disheartens me to admit this, but the following are nonfiction accounts, both of friends and my own, of ways to really freak guys out.  They may have been committed with favorable intentions, but the outcome of each involved a male ending up thoroughly disturbed.  I can’t conceptualize the workings of the male mind, and although these actions seemed like the best way to communicate at the time, they irrevocably translated to the traumatization of a few men.  If you have a guy in mind that you need to get rid of, hereRead More

Embrace Uncertainty

If we put down that near-barren wine glass that signifies the consumption of the better part of a bottle, if we turn off the Xbox, stop brunching, human-humping, and indulging in the other distractions that construct our twenties;if we are honest with ourselves, we realize that the only certain element of this defining decade is uncertainty.  Far away is that safe four (perhaps five) years of cushion that college provided for us.  Buffering us from the real world, college proves to be a quasi-adult world, where we are old enoughRead More

April has finally arrived! As great as the transition to warmer weather is, we all know April showers bring May flowers. Rain boots are now a necessity. Here are a few tips when deciding which kind to choose, and a few of my favorites. Women with longer legs should try to wear boots that reach higher on the leg – in order to showcase their elongated legs. Petite ladies, lean more towards the shorter length. They are not only more fashionable, but also lightweight! If you’re a consumer that needsRead More

He’s Just Not That Into You

I laughed with girlfriends over drinks in regard to the female phenomenon of making excuses for the guys we date.  We admitted to how pathetic we could be, constructing covers for their lack of communication and attention, “He just has had a really busy week,”  “He is just scared of how much he likes me.”  We discussed these delusions that we make up in our minds in response to a text that takes less time to type and send than it does to fart.  I am fatigued from generating the reassuranceRead More

This beautiful hunk of man, who was voted number 18 on E! Channel for the 101 Sexiest Celebrity Bodies, is not just an actor. Doing my research into figuring out what else is behind those beautiful eyes, I learned he is also a producer and a director as well. I crushed hard when I first saw him in “The Perfect Score,” and my love for him has onlyRead More
We’ve all heard of the work-life balance, a.k.a. “don’t sit in front of a computer for 50 years and not see all the cool shit outside of the office too.” You go to work, and then you hang out with friends who know nothing about your office other than your complaints about the heavy breather and obsession with the new cute coworker (and prayers that you don’t get reported to HR). Every once in a while, you find yourself in the twilight zone known as a work happy hour, whereRead More

How to Glam Your Grunge

Sometimes our work-happy hours last longer than expected and we awake the next morning, foggy and furious at our alarm, and must abandon any  intention of showering in order to sleep a little bit longer.   No, I am not advocating regular avoidance of bathing to match the scent of the homeless man surrounded by pigeons and urine on your walk to the bus, but there are some serious ways to glam up your grunge that every twenty-something should be privy to.   1.  Charm Your Chewbacca Legs You haveRead More

Remembering L’Wren Scott

For those of you who do not know, the fashion world is mourning another incredible loss, yet again.  Last Monday, L’ Wren Scott was found dead in her home after committing suicide. Most articles you read will describe her financial matters or the fact that she was linked to a famous boyfriend. However, neither one of those truly matters in the end. Therefore, it is ridiculous to keep on repeating  facts that do not reflect the type of woman she was. L’ Wren Scott was amazingly creative and a genius inRead More
When my baby teeth fell out of my head, they were replaced with a complete set of adult sweet-teeth.  My teeth and I have been through quite a lot together– phases of Nerds, licorice, caramel apples, Sour Punch Straws, and so much more.  An embarrassing number of cavities later, and I’ve had to investigate some healthier alternatives.  If you’re like me and looking for some easy, better than candy recipes, try these: 1. Frozen Yogurt Melts Easier than tying your shoe, this recipe yields a delicious frozen snack.  It’s quick andRead More
I have spent the majority of my teenage and adult years as a mindful observer of the dating scene. For the most of my college career, I played the role of the single friend that dished out (solicited) relationship advice and built her buddies back up after brutal breakups. Occasionally, I caught flak from friends and family for not experiencing enough of the dating scene first-hand. Apparently it’s a widely accepted notion that the only way to determine what you want and need out of relationships is to work yourRead More
