The Best Movies and Television of 2016 So Far

One of 21st century life’s greatest pleasures is to chill out with some of the latest movie and TV treats courtesy of our favorite streaming services. And whilst 2015 was a great year for home entertainments, 2016 looks to be no different as there are some great TV titles that have inspired the latest wave of online slots games, as well as some massive comic-book movie adaptations to enjoy. Marvel has already started the year in grand style with its hilarious Deadpool action movie. It’s rare that we get toRead More

The 10 Commandments of Netflix

1. Thou Shalt Have No Other Hobbies Before Me Although it is permissible to lie on your online dating profile, in an interview, or to impress an acquaintance.     2. Thou Shalt Not Take the Name of Lord Netflix in Vain Seriously.  Don’t insult or mock Netflix.  There are too many devout and loyal followers.  We are everywhere.     3. Remember to Keep Holy the Sabbath Day Which, in the instance of Lord Netflix, is every day.  Especially Friday nights and entire Saturdays.  But we can’t rule outRead More

5 Dudes In Entertainment You Should Listen To

Adam Carolla The Ace Man is the most practical person I’ve ever heard speak. Adam is a broadcaster, comedian, father, husband, and life veteran. He is a champion for extreme common sense. If you haven’t seen his movie, The Hammer, check it out. I got into him when he did Love Line back in the day with Dr. Drew and if you didn’t know, they do a new podcast together called The Adam and Dr. Drew Show… basically Love Line Part 2 but better because it’s more of their opinionsRead More

Silicon Valley Season One Review

HBO’s Silicon Valley ended it’s debut season with the episode, “Optimal Tip-To-Tip Efficiency.” The guys at Pied Piper started the season with a simple algorithm for a compression company. What any of that means, not even main character Richard Hendricks knew until the very end of the season, and even then he changed the whole face of the company in the show’s final moments. Along the way, he had the help of a hilarious group of techies all incubating under the roof of Aviato founder, Erlich Bachman. Hats off to comedian TJRead More
On June 6th, just less than a week away, The Fault in Our Stars film, based on the New York Times Bestselling novel by John Green, will be in theaters nationwide. Self-proclaimed ‘Fault-Fanatics’ are on the edge of their seats as the premiere draws closer, and director Green along with the cast have only contributed to the torturous, unceasing anticipation. Quite regularly, new trailers, promotional videos, and music videos from the soundtrack are released—only to remind us of how much we will sob once the movie hits screens. The trailer:  Read More

The 5 Greatest Roles Of Val Kilmer

Val Kilmer is awesome and these are his most memorable roles. One role that just missed my top five is him as Bruce Wayne in Joel Schumacher’s Batman Forever and that is only because I had to include a single episode TV role he took on that is hilarious. There is something about Val Kilmer that makes him fun to watch. It doesn’t even matter if the movie is good or not. All that matters is that he is beyond entertaining on the big screen. Let the list begin..   5Read More

#SOCHIPROBLEMS

Hosting the Olympics is like the real world equivalent of running for Senior Class President in high school. You’re put under the magnifying glass and just asking to be critiqued and ridiculed. Everything you do is being translated to people of very different backgrounds. And every once in a while, there’s a slim chance that you might just be epically successful. Key words: slim chance. The 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi are not off to a great start in their bid for epic success. Even before the games began thisRead More
Ahh…the Super Bowl. If you’re anything like me, it’s a time for merriment, poor eating habits, a chance to see David Beckham running half-naked, and, best of all, a kickass halftime performance. Bruno Mars was the league’s pick for 2014 and yet, regardless of the artist’s proven talent and popularity, many critics questioned whether the fresh young performer was ready to live up to the likes of last year’s show brought to us by the amazing Queen Beyonce. After delivering a killer performance complete with drum solos, heartfelt messages fromRead More

The 10 Best Netflix Shows to Marathon

Let’s be real – Netflix is awesome. It makes it so easy to spend hours on your couch or in front of your television, watching episode after episode of hundreds of shows. Here are some of my top picks to waste your afternoon and put off that important assignment you need to do: #1 – The Office (U.S.) Netflix has 9 full seasons of The Office, the hit comedy series featuring the Dunder Mifflin paper company and the different relationships and ridiculous moments that can occur in an office setting. Hollywood Gets Biblical

If you found yourself packed into the multiplex these past couple weeks (and chances are you have, considering the Hoth-like temperatures sweeping most of the nation), then you may have noticed a theme in the sampling of previews.  Big budget trailers usually showcasing the latest feature-length Marvel commercial or Michael Bay vehicle have taken a decidedly spiritual turn. Get ready for a year of biblical proportions.  Over the next 11 months, Hollywood is planning to churn out more Biblical fair than in the last 11 years combined.  This seems likeRead More
Tis the season for the mid-season premiers of some of our favorite television shows. To prepare for those premiers (or continuing seasons), Writtalin recommends the following drinks to enjoy while sitting on the couch and soaking it all in. Downton Abbey If you don’t watch this show, you need to. Now entering its fourth season, Downton Abbey has crossed the pond to the U.S. and captivated the masses. The high class lives of the Crawley family and their servants are on display, dealing with the drama of the eliteRead More

Boss Ladies of Pop – 2013

In 2013, these ladies ruled the pop music scene… Ariana Grande: The Nickelodeon star has had quite the year with her release of album Yours Truly.  Don’t judge me, but I’m on the verge of 24 and I LOVE this album.  The woman’s got pipes and has been compared to the original diva, Mariah Carey, on several occasions.  The album’s first single The Way featuring Mac Miller is an adorable, catchy-as-hell, feel-good song perfect for rolling down the windows and screaming along to at the top of your lungs.  Read More
