Kill Your Facebook

Barbecue sauce, weekend benders, porn, television, movies, Hulu. What do these all have in common? In reasonable doses they can add new dimensions of fun and texture to your life, but too much and the law of diminishing returns kicks in. What’s delicious? Hot wings and barbecue. What’s disgusting? One wing in a tub of Stubb’s. This is what personal media has become to me: a constant binge of distraction. Let me clarify something. I’m 28. I’m in the doldrums of the twenty-something. I’m now filling the void which wasRead More
BREAKING NEWS: Miley Cyrus and her man-du-jour, Olympic freestyle skier Gus Kenworthy, had a huge falling out yesterday. Details aren’t clear yet, but several sources are reporting that the couple had a major disagreement, which led to Kenworthy doing the unthinkable: releasing the couple’s sex tape online. Kenworthy, posting under the Reddit handle gusskies19, posted a link to the tape under r/IAmA yesterday evening. As is standard policy, Reddit administrators removed the link and the thread due to its questionable content after only three minutes. Furthermore, the site on which the video was hosted removed theRead More

Circus Elephants Run For It Earlier this week, three elephants escaped the circus in search of a better life. The creatures were fed up with low wages and long hours, so they packed their bags and made a run for it like jail birds. The elephants damaged several cars as well as the circus venue door, but they sadly didn’t make it very far, as they were quickly captured in the parking lot. The handlers claim the elephants are now comfortably resting in their cages. Yeah right. You know theyRead More

Nick Cannon’s Whiteface Antics Spark Controversy

Alter egos: A lot of stars have them. Beyonce has Sasha Fierce, David Bowie had Ziggy Stardust and now, apparently, Nick Cannon has Conner Smallnut. And people aren’t impressed. Cannon, who is set to release a new album titled, “White People Party Music” on April Fools’ Day, has caused a bit of a stir over the past few days, posting photos and videos of himself in whiteface and skater attire on Twitter and Instagram. Captions underneath the posts include hashtags like “FarmersMarket,” “GoodCredit,” “BeerPong,” and “CreamCheeseEating,” and introduce the pastyRead More
Think something you filmed on your GoPro while snowboarding is hardcore? Think again. In the video below, a GoPro records while some lunatics jump from the top of One World Trade Center – you know, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere. Badass? Probably. Stupid? Definitely. The jumpers are looking at jail time, or at the very least, some hefty fines for their stunt. Obvious risk of bodily harm aside, it seems that we can easily conclude jumping from the World Trade Center is not a good idea. But whetherRead More
The Malaysian flight isn’t the only big news in Asia. Recently, a man was passing through the security line at the Beijing airport. The line was a tad slow, so he started to complain. At first, it was stuff that we’ve all complained about. You know, things like how much security sucks and how it all feels like a waste of time. But this fine gentleman took it a step further. When he saw just how slow the security agents were operating, he asked one if he needed to “dropRead More

Baby falls 3 stories; saved by mattress Earlier this week in Burbank, CA a child fell 3 stories but was luckily saved by a stranger and his box spring mattress. Konrad Lightner spotted a toddler hanging from a third-story window and called the police. Miraculously, Lightner happened to have a mattress with him and placed it next to the apartment complex. He waited for the child to fall, caught him, and both collapsed onto the mattress. The toddler is doing fine with now, with apparent signs of trauma. Lightner explained,Read More
March is a special month. It’s our transition into springtime, and with it comes warmer weather for most of the country. For those in the polar vortex, this warm stuff could not come a moment too soon. But for the next two weeks, let’s return to the great indoors for some special hardwood madness. Whether you attended a division 1 powerhouse or took one class at a community college, we all appreciate the NCAA tournament. It’s the closest thing we have to magic, only it’s real. And so is thisRead More

No Beyonce, I Will Not Ban Bossy

Well, Beyonce continues to live up to her nickname. Queen Bee speaks and everybody listens. Lately, my newsfeed has been buzzing with posts about “Ban Bossy,” a campaign started by Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg and backed by Bee herself. According to the campaign’s website, “When a little boy asserts himself, he’s called a ‘leader.’ Yet when a little girl does the same, she risks being branded ‘bossy.’” This type of language, according to Sheryl Sandberg, discourages girls from seeking leadership roles, and “Ban Bossy” aims to address this issue byRead More

A Lesson in Child’s Play: Kid Snippets

I would like to thank YouTube’s Bored Shorts TV for confirming my belief that children are tiny life coaches. The YouTube channel’s ‘Kid Snippets’ have brought me an incredible amount of entertainment in recent days. They’ve also reminded me of following: It’s important to be encouraging and make your feedback constructive. There are certain things you should always look for when voting for a presidential candidate. Fire can be good and bad. Also, it’s important to make the best out of every situation, no matter how awful. Speeding is wrong,Read More
microwave warning against drying pets
Woman Microwaves Cat for Attacking Goldfish Laura Cunliffe from Northern England was sentenced to jail after microwaving her kitten because she believed it attacked her goldfish.  Cunliffe claims she put it in for 5 minutes but removed it after one minute when she realized what she had done. The kitten died soon after. Apparently Laura has been suffering from psychotic depression and sectioned under the Mental Health Act 20 times. No statements have been taken from Cunliffe but the courts seem furious and her family is blaming it on poorRead More

This Website Will Change Your Life: No Excuse List

Most of us spend at least twelve years of our lives in school (unless you’re a Kardashian or a child star, in which case you’re just screwed). Throughout the years spent in preschool, elementary, high school, and possibly college and beyond, we cram our brains with facts that 99% of us will never need to recall ever again. In this new edition of This Website Will Change Your Life, we’re turning learning upside down and introducing ways to master things that are actually useful and relevant. The website in question,Read More

Spritz logo
I read an article the other day from Elite Daily regarding a new app from Spritz that allows you to read a novel in 90 minutes or less. I love books and reading and words and everything that has to do with any of those thing. Hence, this automatically caught my attention. According to Spritz, their program formats words to line up with the eye’s natural movement while reading. This involves something called the “Optimal Recognition Point” (ORP) which refers to the precise point where our brain deciphers all of theRead More
